Hello!
We have just booked our flights to Asia! So that's super exciting, but due to lack of funds we have had to skip the rest of Australia, we are still going to Cairns to do the Barrier though. This means we will be home even earlier!! Beginning of July.
For the last few weeks we have had more guest's staying in our little apartment, Andy and Rich from uni, we had the best time! On the first weekend they were here, we went to Lygon St as Master Chef Australia was filming there. It was quite exciting being around all the posh filming equipment! We came pretty close to the judges and contestants as well but I have no idea who any of them are!
We also managed to get ourselves some half price master chef food, was so tasty!
We cycled to Albert Park so we could go around the F1 track, which was super exciting for the boys!
The show didn't last long and we decided to come home for some drinks before going out on Swanston St. The night got quite out of hand, we played Monopoly deal and drinking games which ended up in this.....
On Easter Sunday we went Wine tastin in the Yarra Valley. We managed to do it quite cheap, just got a train to Lily dale and then a taxi to the first Vineyard. We then hitched and luckily found a couple who were doing the same thing so they took us round all of the Vineyards!!
We went to Chandon first, which is famous for champagne, we had a winery tour and learnt how wine is made, which wasn't too exciting, so we left early to get to the tasting bar. We tried 9 wines and most were yummy, we tried a Red Shiraz which was so good! The boys brought us a bottles as a thanks for letting them stay with us.
The next place was a lovely French Winery called Dominque Portet, we were lucky enough to meet the owner/founder as well! I tried to talk French to him but it didn't go down too well! We drank mostly whites again in this one, we found it a lot more our style than Chandon, much more relaxed.
The third was Pimpernel Vinyards we were all pretty much on our way to Merry by now! Was a very small place compared to the first two and was quite busy when we got there. To be honest I can't really remember how the wine tasted at this point. We had a lot of fun though!
The final place was Soumah vineyard, where we splashed out and also brought a cheese board, which was delicious! The lady was very lovely to us, I think she knew we had no intention of actually buying the wine! We were there right at the end of the day so had the place to ourself! Its a lovely little cafe, apparently one of the smallest Vineyards but looked pretty huge to us.
It was an awesome weekend! We have chilled out a lot recently as we are on the super save for Asia.
Will write again soon!
