Hong Kong

Hello!

The last stop of our epic 16 month journey, the magical Hong Kong. We stayed on Kowloon in a lovely little hotel called Inn Sight which was nice and clean but literally tiny. This wasn't too much of an issue as we barely spent any time in the room, we were only in Hong Kong for 48 hours!

Tigers and Elephants

Hello!

Our Tuc Tuc driver AKA our personal chauffeur, Mr Suket; took us to the Tiger temple one rainy afternoon in Chiang Mai.. and it was awesome! The tigers were super cute and very playful. This is quite an expensive day trip, especially to see the youngest tigers.

Chiang Mai

Hello!

After spending time on the Islands we headed to the Northern region of Thailand for two weeks. We weren't too jazzed about the 32 hour bus and overnight train ride up to Chiang Mai so we decided to take a flight there from Krabi

Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.

Hello!

We left cloudy Koh Samui and headed over to Koh Phangan to find the weather much the same. No worries though, we would still highly recommend this place and we learnt to dance in the rain.

Koh Samui

Hello!

We spent four nights on Koh Samui, the largest Island on the East Gulf of Thailand. We stayed in a lovely little resort called Hutcha  and had our own little private bungalow! The bathroom wasn't exactly inside which meant we had quite a few mozzy's join us whilst we were showering!

Bangkok

Hello!

When we first arrived in Thailand we spent two nights in Bangkok in a lovely little hostel called Mile Map, which we loved so much we will be going back there before our flight to Hong Kong.

Singapore

Hello!

What an amazing city! Singapore really is incredible and very cheap compared to Australia! Travelling around was unbelievably cheap, a train from our hostel to the airport was only $1.90SPD, Taxi were also a bargain!

My 23rd Birthday

Hello all!!

Just a quick post to update you on our finalized travelling plans and my Birthday fun!

We have finally booked our flight home! We only have 2 months left of our overseas adventure and fly home from Hong Kong on 10th July! Everything has gone so fast, I can't believe it is all coming to an end. We both have jobs to last until the end of Melbourne (3 more weeks) outbound sales jobs so not the best but it's all going into our savings pot!

Easter Weekend

Hello!

We have just booked our flights to Asia! So that's super exciting, but due to lack of funds we have had to skip the rest of Australia, we are still going to Cairns to do the Barrier though. This means we will be home even earlier!! Beginning of July.

Great Ocean Road

Hello,

This week has not been the best week if I am honest, I have now lost my job with Crazy Johns (as the company is closing down) and STA changed a flight we asked them not to change, meaning we are stuck with a flight home on the 28th July and cannot change it!! Luckily we had a fantastic weekend at Great Ocean Road which I am going to tell you all about.

Wilsons Prom and Other Adventures

Hello!

It is not a very nice day in Melbourne today, after 5 consecutive days above 30 it has started to rain and storm! Quite a welcome relief though to be honest, clearing up the muggy atmosphere!

Settling down in Melbourne

Hello!

This is the final post of the five post updates, and here we are in Melbourne! We are here until the 3rd of June 2013, then travelling the East Coast of Oz before we fly to Asia for 9 weeks.

Syndey

Hello,

Our flight over from New Zealand was pretty uneventful, we were both quite sad to leave, it didn't feel like we had been there for 8 month! We were super excited about getting to Australia though and starting the second half of our travels.

Christchurch

Hello.

Due to lack of funds, me and Nick headed to Christchurch hoping to find a two week temping job. When we first got to there we were still in the camping spirit and found a nice camp site. It was OK, quite far out of town though, so we quickly found a hostel instead.

We went out looking for jobs on our first day and we found one. We were laborers. We put up shelves, painted machinery, hung out with the work men. We were laborers in a toilet factory. this was not enjoyable for me! And Nick had to do all the work as I was not strong enough to build shelves and take down racking! It was a bit ridiculous and we only lasted a week (probably the longest week of my life!). Over now though and we did need to money.

Christchurch is beautiful, I would have loved to have seen the city before the devastating earthquakes in 2010 and 2011, from what is left you can see how beautiful it once was. It is coming back together though, and various artists have made the most out of a bad situation. For example they have 'gap fillers' which are unique things all over the city, such as a bar made out of broken down trams, a shopping mall made out of shipping containers and a fridge on the side of the road which is a book swap shop.

Into The Wilderness

Hello!

Let me tell you about our three week 'Into The Wilderness' camping trip with Jake and Lou. We did a road trip of the rest of the South Island in our Little Nissan March (Jo) and slept in a tent at some of the most beautiful places in the whole of New Zealand.

The End of Queenstown!

Hello!

By the end of the season, mother nature had successfully terrified us into thinking the mountains would close a month early, but just when we thought it was all over, she finally graced us with a powder day! Luckily I had this day off, so I threw on my gear and headed up on the first bus.

The Mid Season Review

Hello!!

So by this time I had started to get quite a lot better at snowboarding thanks to Nicks incredible patients and free private lessons (NZSki perks) . I have made it down most of the blue runs on the mountains and I am pretty confident linking my turns so everything is going well!!

UPDATE!

Hello!!

How are you all? As you have probably noticed I have neglected this blog for about 6 months, which I kind of regret! So I have re-named and re-branded, and will be updating it with 6 posts (Mid Season Review, End of the Ski Season, Camping, Christchurch, Sydney, Christmas and New Years) to bring you up to speed with what we are doing right now.
